Launch of a new Master’s Degree Program Leadership in Open Education

In November 2019, all UNESCO Member States unanimously adopted Recommendation on Open Educational Resources, while international studies identify lack of staff and a huge need of capacity building in this field. The new program directly addresses many of the challenges identified in the recommendation by empowering next-generation leaders of open education.

  • How to strategically plan open education, how to implement it, how to choose a suitable business model for it?
  • What it can contribute to formal and informal education, how it can help companies in Human Resource Management?

Our students will be led by an international team of excellent experts and educators towards understanding the connections between technological, pedagogical, business and social aspects of open education. Graduates will master its development and implementation at the whole range of spectrum from individual learning outcomes, courses, study programs to the institutional, national and transnational levels, as well as its use in business or non-governmental organizations. With this knowledge they will be able to competently lead projects, initiatives, communities and strategic development in the field of open education.

The program will be conducted partly at the premises of the University of Nova Gorica in the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava, and partly online.

The program was developed in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning at the Jožef Stefan Institute.

The description of the program is available at the School of Engineering and Management at the University of Nova Gorica.
