Dr Nkaepe Olaniyi has a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, as well as a PhD in Quantum Electronics, from the University of Leeds. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT). Dr Olaniyi joined University of Essex Online in 2019 to head up the new Computing department. She previously worked at Durham University as a Teaching Fellow in Physics.  She has several years of teaching experience in Higher Education which includes curriculum development, and online delivery.  She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT).  Her expertise is in programming, software engineering, and pedagogy in STEM.
